In the previous article, I showed how the pro-life Charlotte Lozier Institute erroneously claimed in their Oct. 6, 2020 press release that no human embryonic stem cells or human fetal tissue were used to produce REGN-COV2, Regeneron's monoclonal antibody treatment.
My article goes on to show how this claim was contradicted by Regeneron's own press release and the admission of their spokesperson that HEK293 is used in production of REGN-COV2. Furthermore, Professor Gerard Harbison of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln proved that, according to Regeneron's own published study, Regeneron used HEK293 in the production of the cocktail:
This still leaves the question of how Regeneron humanized their mice. CLI stated in their press release:
Development of Regeneron’s antibody cocktail is detailed in the journal Science, describing how they identified their antibodies made from Velocimmune mice and blood from recovered patients previously infected with SARS-CoV-2. The final antibody pair used in the REGN-COV2 therapy cocktail was then produced in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells.
Regarding the humanization of Regeneron's VelocImmune mice, Dr. Tara Sander Lee, Senior Fellow and Director of Life Sciences at Charlotte Lozier Institute, emphatically declared the following in a tweet:
What Dr. Lee may not be aware of is the fact that Regeneron scientists have a history of using human fetal liver to humanize their mice.
A 2017 Science Direct article entitled "A novel humanized mouse model with significant improvement of class-switched, antigen-specific antibody production," lists several Regeneron scientists, including the co-founder of Regeneron, George D. Yancopoulos, and describes how human fetal liver obtained from the notorious Advanced Biosciences Resource being used to humanize mice.
This 2017 study was authored in part by four Regeneron scientists: Davor Frieta, Cagan Gurer, Andrew J. Murphy, George D. Yancopoulos. Yancopoulos is co-founder, president and chief scientific officer of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals.
The article describes how the mice were humanized: "Newborn RG SKI and RG SKI IL-6 mice were irradiated and engrafted with human CD34+ cells purified from the fetal liver."
The article confirms that "fetal liver samples were obtained from the Human Fetal Tissue Repository at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, and from Advanced Biosciences Resources, Alameda, CA" to make human CD34 cells. More than 20 fetal liver samples were used in the experiment.
In the closing acknowledgements: "The authors thank the Regeneron Pharmaceuticals' Velocigene team for generating human IL-6 knock-in mice. This study was supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Cancer Institute, among others:
Please note that this study states that human fetal liver was obtained from Advanced Biosciences Resources. Judicial Watch has published hundreds of documents about federal employees purchasing "fresh and never frozen aborted baby organs from the notorious ABR, which was exposed as Planned Parenthood's organ harvesting partner.
There is also another Science Direct article, published in 2011, entitled "Efficient differentiation and function of human macrophages in humanized CSF-1 mice," co-authored by George Yancopoulos, the co-founder of Regeneron, in which human fetal liver from ABR
is also used to humanize mice.
Here is the relevant section citing ABR as the source of the human fetal liver used to isolate CD34 cells to humanize the mice, using Regeneron's VelociGene technology.
It would appear that notorious fetal experimenter Dr. Eugene Gu was correct in his initial assessment of Regeneron's magic mouse cocktail which miraculously cured Trump of his COVID affliction, and Dr. Tara Sander Lee, badly misinformed.
Regeneron's 2011 and 2017 experiments with human fetal liver obtained from the infamous ABR involved "at least 20 samples,"meaning, as far as I can tell, that at least 20 aborted babies were used in the prerequisite research for the development of the REGN-COV2 monoclonal antibody cocktail.
*It is not clear how Regeneron currently humanizes the VelocImmune© mice which they use to produce their cocktail, but they have used aborted baby organs to humanize their mice in three published studies. As Dr. Gu states above, "without these studies, there would be no expensive monoclonal antibody cocktail for Trump to use."
